Day in the Life #5

in About me, Everyday on

This is going up a little later than usual, since yesterday was super busy. But it was a pretty good day, and I hope yours was, too. Anyway, here’s what a typical Tuesday looks like for me this quarter.

5:33 am – Wake up of my own accord. It’s early, but I got more sleep than I had in at least a week beforehand, so I really can’t complain.

5:47 am – Walk to the gym. It’s pretty out.

6:00 am – Work out. I do a really short circuit of weights and then zone out for a little too long on the elliptical. Okay, maybe I’m still pretty sleepy.

6:48 am – Head back to the dorm.

7:07 am – Shower. Do hair and makeup. Scroll through social media and check my email while texting six people. I’m a multitasker. It’s probably not great.

7:46 am – My roommate coughs and I remember the fifteen terrible minutes yesterday when my throat was a little itchy. She’s been sick for a long time and I have managed to avoid it, but I’m paranoid now. I take two Airborne tablets.

7:48 am – Take too long to decide what to wear. Land on this:

8:07 am – Go to the dining hall and grab a banana. Take it to my room and eat it with Greek yogurt and a lot of cereal and delicious salted almonds while reading blogs and going through email.

8:51 am – Leave later than I probably should for math. Oh, well.

9:01 am – Arrive (technically a minute late) for linear algebra.

9:04 am – Class actually starts. We learn the stuff about linear transformations we need to finish the problem set assigned on Thursday.

10:19 am – Class is over. And I head straight to the biological sciences building for cancer bio. I run into another girl from my house on the way there and we agree that the class is not what we expected… a little too detailed.

10:30 am – Cancer bio starts and we discuss papers on pre-clinical and clinical trials. Mostly the professor discusses, but we all signed in and showed up, so we assume we get credit for the discussion.

11:48 am – The discussion is over (and so are my classes for the day!). I head back to my room.

12:01 pm – My roommate reads for her next class and I try to finish up my linear algebra problem set before my afternoon of office hours. The line at the dining hall was ridiculous, so we basically snack through lunch. I eat a ton of baby peppers, cheese, carrots, pistachios, Wheat Thins, and ham.

1:31 pm – I have one question left on my math homework, and I decide to leave it for office hours later. I eat a bowl of Greek yogurt and Multigrain Cheerios and relax for a little bit.

2:49 pm – Leave for econ office hours. I buy a Diet Pepsi before I leave. I’m a little scared because all the retail locations on campus have been out of Diet Coke for almost a week. I really like Diet Coke. This is a problem.

3:02 pm – Meet a couple friends at office hours. Talk to the professor about concepts she went over in class, abnormal indifference curves, cruise ships, and the marriage market in China.

4:00 pm – Go over the last few questions on the econ problem set with friends. We talk to our Intro to Microeconomics professor for a few minutes after her class lets out. I think she promised us some “badass.” t-shirts we heard about when we took her class. We’ve been wanting them.

4:35 pm – Head to my math teacher’s office hours to get my question answered. He’s good about that.

5:48 pm – Get back to the dorm and start writing this up.

6:16 pm – Dinner! Don’t worry, it wasn’t that good. Even the sweet potatoes were undercooked. Talk about the Paleo diet and waking up early.

7:43 pm – I have back-to-back meetings and know I won’t make it through them awake without more food.

8:00 pm – SWS meeting. We talk about IPOs. I pay a little too little attention and read material for an AKPsi quiz. I’m a pledge. We have weekly quizzes.

9:00 pm – AKPsi meeting. We play an icebreaker game where you have to find a fruit that starts with the same letter as your name. The president pulls up a list of fruits on Google to help us out. I’m an elderberry. Someone was a yellow apple because what fruit starts with a “y”?

9:55 pm – Head back to the dorm and collect more snacks. Peanut butter and apples and chocolate and green tea Chobani.

10:47 pm – Sleep. I think I was ready for this moment three hours ago.

Are you a multitasker?

How was your day?

Sometimes I think not multitasking is better… but I haven’t mastered the art of focusing 😉 It so is! Try it! It’s sweet and salty and crunchy and great 😀

Love this post! Seems like you got a lot done. I love being productive! I’m not good at being lazy haha. What kind of cereal did you have for breakfast? I need some new ones to try 😉

I try to multitask…I know it really should be called multi-switching, but I *feel* more productive! 😉

I had such a busy Tuesday/Wednesday!! Tuesday is always our grocery shopping day and Wednesdays are always our clean-the-house day, but this week I also got my hair cut (YAY!!) and worked on coordinating my family’s part in volunteering at a local conference.

It does feel more productive, for sure – even if it isn’t!

Sounds like you had a good couple of days. Sometimes the busy ones shape up pretty nicely 🙂

Productivity does feel great 😀 And yes! I LOVE that flavor. I also really like the toasted coconut, but I haven’t tried any of the others. Do you have any recommendations?:)
