Five Friday Favorites 01/13/17

in Five Friday Favorites on

Happy Friday! How was your week? Mine has been all sorts of hectic, but I’m gonna say it was a good one. I have a low-key weekend of work, yoga, cooking, and relaxation ahead of me. Exciting? Nah. But I’m totally happy with it. I could use some chill time. What are you doing this weekend? Whatever it is, let’s start it off on the right foot by looking back at some of our favorite things from the week. Sound good? Let’s do it.

Playing life coach

Fun fact: people tell me their problems all the time. I don’t just mean people I’m super close, too, either. I think it’s pretty normal when your friends and family share their struggles. Rather, I’m talking about the people I’ve had one class with ever and then I run into them and they tell me all about their parent problems or the acquaintances who want my input on what their entire futures should look like. And while I fully believe that I’m not qualified for that, I am perfectly capable of listening and providing composed answers that apparently add value to people’s lives. That feels pretty good.

Classes

Nerd alert: with the exception of one, I find all of my classes pretty enjoyable and interesting. It’s been quite a while since that was the case. And while, yeah, I’m busy and scattered, I’m embracing it more because I don’t hate it. Which isn’t to say I’ve hated school at all; I just like it more right now. (Ask me how I feel during fifth week with midterms under my belt.)

A new mug

favorites

I love all things Kate Spade. My parents got me this mug for Christmas and it’s pretty and it makes me happy. So, I bring it to class and it makes me happy.

Purity by Philosophy

I got the sample size of this in my stocking at Christmas and I’m obsessed with it. It smells amazing, takes my makeup off beautifully, and makes my skin feel super soft. The face mask is lovely, too!

Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce

Meet my new Netflix addiction. I think of myself as someone who likes intellectual entertainment, but sometimes trashy TV is exactly what I want. It requires enough mental energy to distract me from stress and stuff, but not enough to stress me out more. Perfect. And I’m probably gonna go watch more now.

And that’s all from me for the week. Have a fabulous weekend and I’ll talk to you next week!

Your turn:

Do you prefer intellectual entertainment or easy entertainment?

What are you loving this week?

I used to use Philosophy Purity–for a long time, actually. Miracle in a Jar is another great product from them. And maybe we can get together soon, once I know the schedule of doctor’s appointments.

I use TV to unwind so I am all about easy entertainment. Hello BRAVO and any reality show. Have a great weekend!

Hmm…. I guess I would say I do like to think about the entertainment, but I’m not one who likes really complicated, or heavily philosophical entertainment?

But I do like documentaries, if they’re well done like Planet Earth, March of the Penguins, and a few others!

      I love a good documentary!

Soo we have a running joke that I have a “therapist vibe” because everyone always feels the need to tell me all their problems – whether I’ve known them for 10 years or just sat next to them on a train – so I totally get the life coach thing. I am glad that even though I am sometimes a little like (WTF?), I’m a great listener and can usually help in some way!

I like a mix of intellectual and easy entertainment. Whenever Jesse’s not home you’ll find me watching documentaries but together we tend to watch tv series. We never usually watch reality tv but lately we’ve been watching Terrace House on Netflix which is like a Japanese “Big Brother” series and it is SO fascinating!

I definitely prefer easy entertainment, too! Have you seen This Is Us? SUCH a good show and it actually does have a little bit of substance and is kind of addictive to keep watching!

I haven’t, but I’m intrigued! Is it on Netflix?
