Five Friday Favorites (02/06/15)

in Everyday, Simple Pleasures on

TGIF? Oh, yes. This week has been go-go-go and now… I’m kind of ready for the weekend. Admittedly, I’ll be spending a significant portion of it preparing for my midterms on Monday and Tuesday, but a break from running from class to writing seminars to clubs to office hours to study sessions sounds quite nice. Enter: the weekend! Don’t worry, there will be some fun thrown in there, too. 🙂

Let’s end this busy week the right way, by talking about some of the things that made it lovely.

  • Sorel boots

These boots are fantastic. They are warm and comfortable, and I’ve been able to avoid slipping on any icy patches when wearing them. They’ve made trudging through the slush a little more bearable.

  • Yes to Coconuts hand cream

IMG_1825

It’s the dead of winter, and my hands are honestly kind of a mess. Does this happen to anyone else? Please say yes. Anyhow, I’ve tried a lot of lotions to solve this issue, but putting this on a few times a day has made the skin on my hands much less dry and cracked. It doesn’t hurt that it smells amazing.

  • Pretty views

IMG_1807

This isn’t the prettiest of them, certainly, but my school looks stunning covered in snow. And when you’re stressed or just not in the best mood… it’s hard to stay down when you stop and look around and see the sun hitting the sparkly snow and the pretty buildings.

  • Big Little Lies

f

I’ve been making more of an effort to read for pleasure lately. I find it extremely relaxing, and it’s a little thing I can do for myself to unwind. This is the book I’m working on right now and I really love it. It’s light enough that I can just read for pure enjoyment, but the story is complex enough that I want to keep reading.

  • Jif Whips Peanut Butter & Salty Caramel

IMG_1828I don’t have words. Please do yourself a favor and get this. Do it.

And that’s all for me today! I have econ office hours and a math class today, and plans to see some professors speak tonight. Who knows what else the day holds, but let’s make it a good one. I hope you all have a great weekend!

What are you reading lately?

What’s a new food you’ve tried (and loved) recently?

What’s on tap for your weekend?

Jiff whips in a tub?! Whoa. Peanut butter is upping its game.

They’re so tasty! Peanut butter needs no upgrades, but they certainly don’t hurt 😉

I am listening to mystery/thrillers by Tami Hoag. I am thoroughly enjoying them.
Queso fritatta! I cannot wait to make it again!!!! Or maybe I should return to Chicago so we can visit Ditka’s again and try something else on their menu. 🙂
Weekend plans include sewing, playing with my new camera, and attending the Gallery Hop.

I am looking forward to hearing about your weekend! Enjoy!!

Ditka’s was pretty wonderful! I can’t wait till I have regular kitchen access, so I can play with my new cookbooks. I’m a teeny bit jealous you get all the fun 😉

Hope you have a good weekend!

WHAT?! There is a YES to Coconut?! I can’t wait to try this. I’m currently becoming obsessed AGAIN with all things coconut. I also can’t wait to read Big Little Liars. I’m currently on the waitlist at the library for The Husband’s Secret. Have a great weekend!

There is, and it is wonderful! I’m loving everything coconut right now, too. Thanks, I hope you have a great weekend, Hannah!

My hands are horrible year-round, but especially in winter. I survive on my mom’s homemade ointment and an (unfortunately) expensive and very synthetic ( 😐 ) silicone product called Dermashield to create as much of a barrier as I can between my hands and water as possible.

I’m trying to get back into the practice of reading for pleasure, too; it’s something I’ve always loved to do, but never seem to have the time. My favorite latest reading has been anything by Gretchen Rubin. Although I prefer fiction for pleasure reading, her books are just so fascinating!

We’ve been saving Popcorn Indiana’s limited edition holiday flavors to try as a special treat someday, which we did last weekend. I don’t really care for popcorn that much, but the deliciousness of their chocolate caramel corn has lingered at the back of my mind all week. 😉 SO yummy!!

Babysitting some of my favorite kids to take care of tomorrow…I think Sunday’s just a kick-back-and-relax sort of day! Have fun!

Even though I generally seek out fiction first, I always enjoy memoir-y books like Gretchen Rubin’s (not sure that’s the best way to describe them…?), too!

Oooh that popcorn sounds amazing! Chocolate and caramel? Count me in 😉

Sounds like a nice weekend! Have a good one!

I have just purchased a chocolate fountain from Macy’s to use at Condo Chocoholic party. Wish me well.

Chocolate fountain? You can’t go wrong! Have fun with that 🙂

I have and use that exact same hand cream! I’m really starting to love the Yes! to products. The coconut smell in that particular one is divine and makes me want to be at the beach RIGHT NOW. Good luck with your midterms next week!

I picked it up as an impulse buy and now I want to try other products from that line!! Ahhh the beach sounds nice right now (with a foot and a half of snow outside 🙂 ). Thanks! Have great weekend!
