Five Friday Favorites 02/12/16

in Five Friday Favorites on

Happy Friday! Like I mentioned yesterday, I have the day off class, but I have a couple of errands to run this morning and then an essay to start writing. I’ll keep busy. 😉 Anyway, it’s been an alright week, but there have been some serious bright spots. I can’t think of a better way to start the weekend than by looking back at some of our favorite things from the week, so let’s get to it!
  • CALIA Effortless Ruched Tights

I got these leggings a couple weekends ago when my mom and I went shopping and I wore them pretty much all weekend last weekend. (Don’t judge.) They’re so comfy, they’re not too warm, they’re not too thin, and they fit me really well. I don’t think the picture in that link doesn’t do a great job showing how they fit at the ankles. Yes, they’re ruched, but they fit a little closer to the leg/don’t look quite that bunch-y.

leggings

See? Anyway, I love these. ☺️

  • Mahi mahi burgers

I also picked these up when my parents were in town, and I love them! I had one on a salad with sautéed mushrooms, sweet potato, and balsamic, and they’re great as protein-packed snacks, too. Lovelovelove.

  • A note from a friend

I happened to check my mail on Tuesday (I don’t check it often enough), and I noticed I had a card. I went through the semi-painful process of unlocking my mailbox and found a letter from a high school friend that made me smile a lot on a semi-rough day. Also, she gave me a dollar for a milkshake. Which brings me to the next favorite quite nicely.

  • Wednesday milkshake

shake

Naturally, I used that dollar on Wednesday. It’s the first shake I’ve had this quarter, since my study group usually starts working on econ homework right after morning classes and we don’t finish until it’s time for an evening club meeting. But the (only?) perk of having an econ midterm is that there’s no econ homework for the week. (Don’t worry, I’ll be back at it this week.) It was really nice to sit and enjoy the Oreo-topped creamy goodness while people-watching, blog-reading, and doing stat homework.

  • Pancakes

pancake

I mentioned last week that I kind of wanted pancakes, right? Well, I made it happen, and they’re delicious. Recipe coming at ya tomorrow!

What goes on your perfect salad?

Any plans for the weekend?

What are you loving this week?

Linking up with Heather and Katie!

Hmm…my favorite salads are pasta, potato and bean salads so I’d have to say I love bean salad with cheese and avocado. It’s so comforting and simple to throw together. I can’t believe you drink Diet Coke with a shake! Haha that would totally give me a stomach ache (carbonation does that to me, added to the dairy would be gross)! I guess when you’re hard core about Coke, you’re hardcore! Have a great weekend 🙂

Bean salad sounds delicious! Anything Mexican-inspired is great by me! LOL I’m terrible with the Diet Coke thing. I swear it goes with everything to me. My mom and my aunt have similar (though not as strong) addictions. I have bigger things to worry about, I guess 🙂

Hmm, I don’t know if my first comment went through, but that milkshake looked so good, and it was only $1.00? WOW! 🙂 And I got this protein rich pancake mix at Costco last week (Kodiak Cakes) that I’m pretty excited to try. God is GOOD!

The milkshakes are awesome! My school has $1 milkshakes every Wednesday and you can’t get the shakes any other day, so I’ll enjoy ’em while I can! And I love that pancake mix! I saw it on a blog (story of my life 😉 ) and tried it on a whim, and now it’s my family’s go-to!

Haha yeah the burgers aren’t very pretty. I went to take a picture of a salad with one and just… stopped. Looked very blobby. ?

That peanut butter to pancake ratio is spot on. I love those leggings too…I have always wanted a pair that bunches at the bottom!

Haha when the peanut butter melted, it covered the whole surface. Just as it should be – there better be PB in every bite 😉

Yay for a day off! Hope it is productive but that you also get some rest. 🙂 I love the combo of diet coke and a milkshake. Perfect. 🙂 Happy weekend, Ellen!

I love feta cheese, chickpeas, craisins, sunflower seeds, and lots of veggies on my salads. This week I have been loving my Netflix time, chai tea lattes, and the snow! Have a great weekend 🙂

I need that milkshake in my life. Diet Coke goes with everything, it’s basically my favorite in the world!

I pretty much live in sports-wear so definitely no judgement here (plus; ‘athleisure’ is a bona fide trend now anyway 🙂 ) and those leggings look so comfy!

    Have a great weekend!

Seeing family tomorrow. Then we have a special Valentine’s dinner at Kingwood Center. Sunday afternoon we have a Chocoholics party at the clubhouse. I’m in charge of that; so I’ll be whipped when the weekend is over. Happy Valentine’s Day. Love you.

Those tights are too cute! I love how ruching totally changes the style!

My favourite salad has to involve watermelon (or some kind of fruit!) and cheese (especially if its feta cheese!)! I love that salty/sweet combo!

Ahh sweet and salty is the best! That sounds delicious!
