Kitchen Time

in Everyday on

Happy Monday, everyone! Did you have a good weekend? I did. I think. See, I felt like I should have accomplished a lot more than I did. But I didn’t. I certainly studied quite a bit, and did some reading, but I relaxed quite a lot, as well. Mostly, I relaxed in the kitchen.

I spent Saturday afternoon in the apartment down the hall from my room, making these…

… and these (minus all peanut ingredients, plus Crispy M&M’s.

And then our house made pizzas for dinner!

IMG_1842Aaaand I remembered why I love being in the kitchen so much. For me, it’s totally therapeutic and calming. Also, sharing tasty food with grateful people is fun.

So, sure, I read some and studied while the bars were baking. I did more work on Sunday than I typically do. But even when other people are around, kitchen time is me time, and this weekend was probably my reminder that I need more of it. It helps keep me happy and sane.

Ultimately, I didn’t feel overly productive this weekend, though I know I actually did accomplish a lot. But I’m learning to balance the relaxing with the productive. This weekend was for that.

Oh, and I got a care package 🙂

I agree 100% that cooking is therapeutic. I get to cook for the people I work for, so it’s like therapy plus a paying job! 🙂
And I totally understand feeling like you should have been more productive over the weekend, but rest and relaxation is what we need to be recharged for the week ahead. Hope you have a great one, Ellen!

It’s a pretty great care package – just what I need to get through midterms! 🙂

Ooh, I always love finding other college bloggers to connect with! Your weekend treats look delicious!
And that care package is INSANE in the best way possible. I love your Dove chocolates and your 86% dark- my favorite!

Thanks, Liv! My family is excellent at care packages 😉 And YES, dark chocolate is the best.

Played bridge with the couple we are teaching to play. Tried out my little chocolate fountain with strawberries, bananas, and pretzels–berries and bananas won. Love your blogs. Your dear mamacita taught me how to respond. She’s my tech hero.

Yum! All your baked goods look so delicious!

My weekend was pretty good, though unfortunately, not as relaxing as I was hoping. Ah well, some days are like that. 😉

Nope, I am horrible at balancing relaxation and productivity. I just think, “But if I get *this* one thing done, I’ll be able to have more time to relax.” Of course, the to-do list is pretty much endless, so there is always one more thing. 🙂 My sweet siblings are always telling me I need that I need to sit down, take a break, have some “me time” and let them do the work. 😛

When I do get to sit down and chill, my favorite things to do are reading a good book, journaling or writing a blog post. 🙂 Since I also love to cook, that would make my list, too, though the relaxing type of kitchen time for me is the kind where there is no time constraints, and I can take as long as I want to make whatever I want! 🙂

Um, I soooo understand about the endless to-do list. I can ALWAYS find something to add, but I guess that’s what I’m working on 🙂
