Thinking Out Loud #73

in Thinking Out Loud on

Happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday! How’s your week going? Mine is flying by and I’m looking forward to a trip home next week for Thanksgiving. And also to probably making another giant cookie tonight after yoga.

thinking - One Big Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie | Some days, you just need a giant chocolate chip cookie. This version is made with good-for-you ingredients to give you just that, in all it's warm, gooey goodness. | www.myuncommoneveryday.com

You should probably make one, too. Just saying. So, you know that cookies are happening in my life (always, honestly), but now let’s join Amanda to talk about what else is happening in my life and mind this week.

Thinking-Out-Loud2

1.) I wasn’t feeling fantastic last Thursday morning, but my Tuesday/Thursday class has a pretty significant participation grade, so I went. (Also, I don’t like missing class.) On my way back to the dorm, I was headed into an archway and a bicyclist was headed out of the same archway and we collided. No harm to her, but a nicely bruised knee and briefly messed-up hip for me. I’m honestly surprised it’s the first time this has happened. It kinda made me feel like I should have stayed home.

2.) Friday morning I really was feeling sick and opted to email my TA and sleep over going to discussion. I woke up a few hours later feeling a hundred times better, but still with a little bit of sinus pain. I took the weekend very easy. I’m still a little extra sleepy, but I think that’s more to do with the fact that I’m pretty much constantly going than sick.

3.) I made the chili I mentioned last week, and I’ve been eating it every day. I fully intended to use beef instead of turkey because I generally prefer it, but I forgot to thaw it and bought turkey just to try it out. Guess what? It’s actually fantastic.

4.) My goal with scheduling next quarter is to get an art class and two econ electives in addition to my Ancient Empires class. Why? Because if I can get those, then I’m pretty confident I can snag two more econ electives during the spring. And that would maybe allow me apply to go abroad for my last quarter here in the fall. Who knows. I’ll keep you posted.

5.) This shirt is perfect.

thinking - rainbows unicorns yoga

I spend a ton of time at CorePower and honestly, buying cute clothes and jewelry is a temptation every time.

6.) My life feels 32 times more “together” when my nails are painted. Even after they’ve started to chip a little. Anyone else?

7.) I fully intended to have an updated day-in-the-life for you yesterday, but I opted to nap before yoga teacher training on Tuesday night. Oops. So, I’ll try to get that together for next week!

8.) Does anyone have tips for being a productive individual after the sun sets? When it’s dark at 4:45 and I don’t want to do things… that’s a problem.

9.) A few groups on campus organized the construction of a giant leaf pile on Tuesday. Why? So people could jump in it, of course.

thinking - leaves

They kept rebuilding it after jumps until about 3pm. Such a great way to put a smile on your face.

10.) And now I want to leave you with some of my favorite recipes + reads from the week.

Has “fall back” messed with your schedule?

    Meeting other bloggers SUCKS ;D
My struggle when it is dark? STAYING AWAKE. Seriously, I want to eat dinner at 5 and pass out at 6

OOH I would have wanted to jump into that giant leaf pile. It’s SO huge. We don’t have lots of leaves here in Colorado; more pine needles. 🙂 HAPPY almost Thanksgiving!

Haha not quiiite as much fun to jump in a pile of pine needles 😉

BRB drooling over that cookie! And 100% agree I sometimes avoid meltdowns just by having nails painted hahah

Glad someone understands. When my nails are painted, I can do (almost) all the things!

I definitely am surprised I haven’t had any collisions on my campus too…but more from skateboarders flying down our rolling hills. And the sun setting earlier is totally killing my motivation, especially since I have a night class that doesn’t start till 7. I usually bribe myself with Netflix playing in the background while I do homework 🙂

OMG a class that starts at 7? I’m annoyed when my last class ends at 4:30 and it’s dark. Craziness. And yes, Netflix certainly helps 🙂

I stopped what I was doing on Wednesday afternoon just to get a manicure because, if nothing else was going right, at least my nails would look good. And now they do 😉

YES. Sending you all the hugs and good thoughts and hoping stuff is going a little more right today ❤️

I’ve been forcing myself to go for walks after sunset to extend my exercise day. Otherwise, the night is too long and I just want to veg out and watch Netflix for hours.

That’s smart! For safety reasons, I usually go right before sunset, but it’s the same idea. Yeah, Netflix calls to me at the end of long days.

That giant cookie looks delicious! I often make myself “desserts for one” like that :). I too am obsessed with corepower- I don’t have any where I go to school which is a bummer, but I make sure to frequent their studio whenever I am home! Goodluck on the teacher training!

Thanks, Kerri! Teacher training is a ton of fun 🙂

I hope you’re feeling a million times better now and have had a chance to rest this weekend?!

I feel you on the after dark lack of productivity. I feel like I get so much lazier in the Autumn/Winter as the cold and darkness makes me want to hibernate come 4pm 😛

Haha I just looked at the clock hoping it was at least 8pm… It’s only 6 😛

i used to being a lazy individual after the sun sets esp in winter *haha* But one day, i had so much deadline to meet so i turned on all the light, workouted or drank coffee to stay awake. Now, im used to staying awake for a long time. You should try sometimes.
