Thinking Out Loud #29

in Uncategorized on

Hey, hi, hello! Happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday! Thanks to Amanda for the opportunity to ramble a little about whatever comes to mind. Honestly, this is probably the perfect kind of post for a long and sleep-deprived week. Soooo let’s get to it!

Thinking-Out-Loud2

1.) I didn’t think this would be a thing you have to tell college students.

Common Sense

Yesterday morning, I learned I was wrong while talking to one of the first years. But hey, at least we got that out of the way, right? Fortunately, you can block numbers from iPhones, so we took care of that pretty quickly.

2.) My roommate and I both baked yesterday! She made some chewy and delicious oatmeal Craisin cookies and I made a super tasty variation of these pumpkin muffins.

3.) While I was baking, one of my friends came and knocked on my door and asked if I wanted some of those bags of air that companies use to pad things when shipping. As in, she had just received a package with those in it and couldn’t bear to throw them away. She’s a bit of a packrat. Anyway, I think I convinced her that no one really needs a bunch of bags of air sitting around in a dorm room. But there’s also a fairly good chance I would find them sitting in her room three months from now.

4.) It’s pretty common knowledge that everyone gets sick during O-Week. You’re in a new place with new people and new germs. I hadn’t been sick in months before and I haven’t been sick since, but I was sick by the end of O-Week last year. There’s already a bug going around our house. With as little sleep as I’ve gotten, I’m surprised I haven’t fallen victim. But I intend to resist because I don’t get sick.

5.) Yesterday was the first $1 shake day of the school year. Well, for the first years it was free shake day. It was still $1 for me. 😛

Mine was white with little black specks, so I assumed it was cookies and cream, but it turned out to be mint. Fine by me! I got it topped with Oreos, as per usual. It was lovely.

6.) Speaking of Oreos…

The first day of fall was yesterday. This means pumpkin and sweaters and apples and jeans and boots and pretty leaves and school. And Pumpkin Spice Oreos. So freaking excited.

Are you a packrat?

What are you most excited for about fall?

Anything else I should know?

I am not a packrat. I am amazed at how much pumpkin stuff is available this year, I have held off so far. I think you are doing an amazing job.

The sad thing is that I could totally relate to wanting to save bags of air, juuuuuust in case I ever needed to pack something 2 years down the road 😉 And it’s weird because I hate clutter but I’m also a pretty big packrat, so the two sides of my brain are constantly at war with each other. The clutter-hater usually wins out though.

I’m sort of like that, honestly. But it’s mostly with sentimental things like cards that I have a hard time throwing away. Otherwise, my inner clutter-hater has been winning more and more lately.

Those bags of air are perfect for packing when you’re moving – wish you could send them my way! lol

So excited for you that you get to bake while at school this year!! It just makes me wish you could send some via the computer screen. 😛 Yay for the return of the milkshakes!! I guess in rebellion of how cold the weather is getting, I’ve been craving the cold sweet things: milkshakes, ice cream, froyo… And waaahhh, we don’t get all your fancy-schmancy limited edition Oreo flavors (at least I haven’t been able to find them, but I’m going to be on the prowl extra-hard this year), BUT I saw Trader Joe’s just came out with their seasonal version of Pumpkin Spice Oreos, and I really wanted to try them. In the past, I’ve thought TJ’s Joe-Joes may actually be better than Oreos (I know…sacrilege), so I’m pretty sure the Pumpkin Spice Joe-Joes are going on the list this week.

Hope you stay well! Too bad you don’t have some of my sister’s foul herbal tonic we take to fortify our immune system…it’s horrible-tasting, but it works amazingly!!

People think the cold foods and cold seasons thing is counterintuitive, but I think ice cream is desirable all the time! Try the TJ’s ones and report back! I’ve never tried Joe-Joes, but I have heard that they’re even better than Oreos, so I should probably get on that!

Haha not gonna lie, Airborne actually tastes pretty foul too. But it “works” even if it doesn’t really! 😉

I am the polar opposite of a pack rat whilst Jesse is definitely a pack rat. He will keep everything – and I just throw it out haha 😛

I can’t stand clutter or useless things!
