Thinking Out Loud #38

in About me, Everyday, Thinking Out Loud on

Happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday! It’s been a great week so far, but in the way of intros, I’ve honestly got nothin’ for ya. So, what do you say we dive into some random thoughts? Thanks for the link-up, Amanda!

Thinking-Out-Loud2

1.) I haven’t watched most of this season of Survivor because when I’m at school I don’t watch much TV, but I have watched a couple episodes at home, and I watched the finale last night. Some of the more recent seasons didn’t really capture my attention, but I think this was a really interesting season. I always say that being at school makes me realize how much I don’t care about TV, but I definitely enjoy watching some when I’m home.

2.) At the risk of sounding repetitive, baking is so therapeutic and relaxing for me.
so many sweetsI’ve spent as much of every day so far as I can in the kitchen and even if I end the day a little exhausted, I end with a smile on my face. Love love love.

3.) A quick(ish) list of all the things I’ve made:

  • Double Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

  • Red Velvet Seven Layer Bars
  • White Chocolate Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

single biscotti warm

  • Toasted Hazelnut Slice ‘N’ Bake Cookies with Milk Chocolate
  • Dark Chocolate Peppermint Truffles
  • Maple Almond Oat Mini Muffins

  • Holiday Cutout Sugar Cookies
  • White Chocolate Cranberry Pistachio Cookies
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter Saltine Toffee
  • Holiday Spiced Nuts
  • No-Bake Cookies
  • Candy Cane Kiss Cookies

I highly recommend any and all of these things. My house is a very delicious place to be. Come over and I’ll gladly share!

3.) You know you’re too used to your own schedule when sleeping in an hour throws off your morning. I typically wake up around 5:30, and I managed to sleep until about 6:30 on Wednesday. I absolutely needed the sleep, and I woke up feeling pretty good, but it made my whole morning a little slower. It was good for me. 🙂

4.) I have a massage scheduled this morning. All the dough-mixing and cookie-shaping and truffle-scooping of the last three days, in addition to just being me, makes this oh so necessary. It will be wonderful.

5.) Less wonderful is the fact that I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed on Friday morning. Fortunately, I only have them on one side of my mouth, but any procedure sounds icky. Procedures that make eating unpleasant sound most icky. I foresee lots of couch time this weekend. And ice cream.

I think I’d take the ice cream over the painkillers any day, but I might change my mind if I’m hurting that badly…

6.) My mom asked me for Christmas gift ideas last night, and I realized that I just want to put off this year’s gifts. Basically, when I have my own apartment and more time – when I’m not in school anymore – I can think of a bunch of things I’ll want and maybe even need. For now, I have plenty of clothes and books and food and a nice computer. I can’t think of anything I really want. I feel exceptionally lucky.

What’s your favorite TV show?

Have you done any holiday baking?

Did/do you have wisdom teeth?

I just finished How To Get Away With Murder on Netflix, I’d highly recommend it! Shonda Rhymes is a great writer (also wrote Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal). I have not done any baking this season (yet) but I am starting to get in the mood. I say that now because on my run this morning I was thinking I would really like a cookie =P
I got my wisdom teeth out in HS and I looked like a chipmunk. It was really funny now that I look back at it, but I don’t remember those two days. They put me out and then I was just messed up for two days. I ate a lot of apple sauce, tomato soup and ice cream 🙂 Good luck!

Oh, I might have to look into that! I love early Grey’s Anatomy!
Haha right now the right side of my face is a tad swollen, but it’s not so bad otherwise. I mean, any excuse to eat a ton of soup and ice cream, right? 🙂

How pretty is that cookie tray!!?? I agree that baking is so relaxing for me. Cooking dinner? Stressful. But baking? I dig it. Also, I hope your teeth extraction goes well! I was one of those people whose body did NOT appreciate having them extracted and had a really bad reaction (like, a chipmunk for 2 weeks. Awesome.) but I also got all 4 out. I know people who wanted to go out that same night. Hopefully it’s easy and the recovery is quick! Enjoy ice cream and alll the yogurt! (no straw though, which was a huge bummer to me.)

Haha I’m hating the no-straw thing because I usually drink pretty much all my water from a tumbler with a straw. Otherwise, it’s not so bad so far! Hoping it stays that way. Have a fabulous weekend!

I got my wisdom teeth out the summer before I went to college last year. Then when I came home winter break last year, I had an infection (yea… 6 months later).
But I’m good with pain so when I did get them out that summer, I was (somehow) eating an apple that night 😉 Hahahaha! I kept my diet the same!

Impressive! I actually think I could eat more solids, but I’m playing it safe for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow can be more normal 🙂

I haven’t done any holiday baking yet, and I just bookmarked your page so I can come back to it today and make some of those goodies. <3

Sending you all the best vibes for your trip to the dentist! I still have wisdom teeth on one side that I need to get out, but my other side was a little traumatic so I keep putting it off. And I’ll -gladly- come relieve you of some of those cookies 😛

Thanks, Amanda! I think it went well, but I guess I’ll find out a little more over the next couple days. Have a lovely weekend! 🙂

You are Betty Crocker! Your kitchen must smell amazing. I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out a year ago, I’m not going to lie, it was horrible lol. I think I had a bad experience though because I couldn’t take the pain medication because it made me throw up :/ So don’t listen to my experience haha, you’ll be fine!

      December 18, 2015 at 6:37 pm

Aw, I’m so sorry! So far I haven’t needed the strong stuff, so I’m hoping it stays that way. I hate being all drugged up, honestly.

Lol, love that meme! I had only three wisdom teeth originally, and to maximize our insurance I went in twice, once for the upper one and once for the lowers. The lowers were the worst and took the longest to recover from, and definitely the soft foods and sick privileges (when I wasn’t feeling really sick, just in pain) were the best part. Though I did get to the point where I just wanted to *chew* something! But generally, I was like, bring on all the milkshakes, pudding, yogurt, ice cream, etc. ?

      December 18, 2015 at 6:39 pm

Haha yeah, my day today has included a smoothie, lots of yogurt, soup, and Ben & Jerry’s. Oh, and a banana. I’m already ready to chew, but I should probably wait until the wounds fully close up 😛

OMG. those cookies look so awesome. I am the opposite, I hate to bake. Its actually very stressful for me

It’s so funny because I can absolutely see how it would be stressful (the mess! the precision! the waiting!), but I somehow love it. If you ever need any baked goods, I’m sure we could arrange that, though 🙂
