Thinking Out Loud #49

in Everyday, Thinking Out Loud on

Happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday! How’s the week treating you? Aside from some stupidly chilly, rainy weather, mine has been quite alright, and not terribly busy. My mind has been a busy, random, crazy place, though, so I thought I’d take advantage of Amanda’s linkup to share that nonsense with you today. 🙂

Thinking-Out-Loud21.) Why do people write on bathroom stall walls?

bathroom stall

I’ve never understood it. Why do you engage in conversation there? Are you going to come back and check for responses? Has anyone made friends this way? I’m confused.

2.) I think the last three weeks of winter quarter were prettier than the first two of spring. I’m also pretty sure something similar happened last year. For the record, I’m done with coats and scarves and hats, Mother Nature! Please bring warmth and sunshine. Thank you.

3.) I’ve mentioned the weather can totally affect my mood. Yesterday, I walked to and from class with cool rain blowing under my umbrella. I felt a little sluggish all day. Coincidence? Maybe, but it sure didn’t feel like it.

4.) Aaaand on sluggish days, I don’t usually feel like eating adult food. You know, some most days I’m pretty good about getting healthy, produce-packed meals. Other days, I eat several bowls of Greek yogurt + cereal + pistachios for dinner, plus lots of snacks. Yesterday was one of those days. Also, I made a bit of a twist on these brownies and had a few. I’ll share ’em when I get them perfect. 😉

5.) Something I think is already pretty perfect?

stack

These frozen PB&J Banana Bites I made for Fit University. They’re creamy and sweet and an awesome way to combine those classic childhood flavors. I still have a few in my freezer. 😉

6.) You know how I mentioned stupid cubic tissue box design yesterday? Can I elaborate? See, when you open the box, there are too many tissues inside, so when you grab one tissue to get it out, it rips. The next couple usually do the same. Then, there’s the point when there are too many in there to just come out when you pull, but rather than ripping, it just lifts the entire box up. There’s a very short sweet spot in the middle of the box, where you can grab the popped-up tissue and not get the whole box. THAT is what should happen. But then you get to the end and the box has so few tissues that when you pull one up, it’s so light that the whole box comes with it. Finally, the last four tissues are all folded into each other so you can’t get one when you want one. Is this an insignificant problem? Absolutely. But why hasn’t someone designed a better small tissue box?

7.) Part of needing to schedule myself is going to be finding a consistent yoga routine again. (It might make me care less about silly things than tissue boxes…)

yogaI’m good at telling myself I should spend that hour and a half(ish) doing something else. Anyone wanna be my accountability buddy? 😉

And that’s all for me for today! Have a lovely Thursday!

What’s your biggest pet peeve? I have no idea what mine is, but it’s not tissue boxes. Maybe untidiness? Or lack of punctuality?

Are there any goals you’re working on right now?

Anything else I should know?

My biggest pet peeve is spitting or “hocking a luge” in the sink, especially after you brush your teeth. Some people don’t even wash it down the drain! EW! It’s the sound of it that kills me. I cringe inside. A goal I’m working towards is full recovery in my legs by Sunday so I can run another race. They’re feeling better, but not at 100%
I’ll be honest, I sometimes love reading the graffiti hahahaha so creative

I enjoy reading it, too, I just don’t get it 😉 And good luck resting those legs!

Not that I condone the writing of the bathroom wall (kids do it here too and it bugs me), but I do like the conversation had there. #BlackLivesMatter is an incredibly important movement, and I dislike when people change it to #AllLivesMatter, but anyway, I’ll get off my political pedestal because that’s not the point of this post. 🙂 People shouldn’t vandalize in the first place and you’re completely right!

Anything else you should know? Yes! You should know I LOVE reading about your life. I feel close to you Ellen because you’re so sweet and relatable. 🙂

I actually usually like hearing people’s opinions, so no need to apologize! It’s really interesting to hear where everyone is coming from!

Thanks so much, Julia! You’re too kind 🙂

I’m dying at your bathroom commentary. I never understood that either. And why do all of the people have pens on hand while using the bathroom?

    • EllenSlater says

      April 9, 2016 at 9:12 pm

YES. I mean, even if I have a bag on me, the pens are IN the bag!

OMG the tissue thing. OMG. crack me up. I don’t understand why people write in bathrooms either. If that is how you choose to express your undying love and affection… your relationship might just be for the crapper.

LOL it’s definitely not the most flattering declaration of love ?

I have too many pet peeves 😛 Hahahaha!
If you’ve ever been to Margarita Ville (in Myrtle Beach…maybe it’s all the locations though) The entire bathroom…every wall…every inch, is written on!

There’s a local restaurant here where the tables and walls are like that!

I love Corepower! I don’t go as often as I should as well. Maybe once every two weeks. I don’t love going to yoga, but I love it once I’m there…gotta keep remembering that!

      I’m totally the same way!

Haha, I am SO with you. People writing on bathroom walls is weird… I feel like it’s a really childish thing… like you graduate from drawing all over yourself to draw on walls and then all of a sudden you realise how stupid both things are and don’t do either. I remember writing on a wall once when I was in the sixth grade. On the last day of school we all wrote our initials on a brick wall at the back of our classroom because apparently we needed to make sure everyone knew that KS + AB + whatever initials were there 😛

Those PB&J banana bites on the other hand, I TOTALLY get because they look amazing!

My biggest pet peeve is people not putting toilet paper back on the holder…. my sister will take the toilet roll off the holder every single time she goes to the bathroom and not put it back on and it drives me nuts! So silly but so annoying!

The PB&J bites are so easy and so.good. Highly recommend 😉
And that’s so weird! I didn’t realize people took them off all the time…? I know lots of people who leave empty ones on, though, and that gets annoying pretty quickly 😛

This is the first time I’ve seen your new blog layout and design. I LOVE it!! Love, love, love it! I bet it was refreshing to get a “blog facelift”. 🙂 Those stacked bananas with PB&J remind me of my pancakes I posted recently, haha. And yes, the weather affects my mood as well. Totally get it.

Thank you so much, Kaylin! There are still a few things I’d like to tweak, but it’ll come in time. I’m super happy with it overall, though. Your pancakes looked divine and I will let you know as soon as I make them! 😀
